Pandita Translation Group - Translation Plan

 

1.Inception

     Geshe Ngawang Tashi, at a very early age, went to India to study Tibetan Buddhism. Then he entered the Institute of Buddhism Dialectics to study. After years of hardwork, he obtained the degree of Geshe. Later on, he joined the Gyudmey Tantric Monasatary to further his studies. Along the way, he’s learned and benefited a lot from his studies and experience.

 

    Geshe Langwang is keenly aware that the Tibetan Buddhism is very complete, amazing, and having lineage. With large numbers of qualified teachers, the Tibetan Buddhism is able to provide systematic education for cultivating Buddhist talents, Therefore, Geshe Langwang longs to bring it to Taiwan and other Chinese communities across the world.

 

   However, in Chinese community, what lacks is the Chinese version of the Five Major Commentary Textbooks of Monastic Curriculum Studies. To teach the whole set of Buddhism Debatig system, the Sutras and books in Chinese are a must. In terms of that, Geshe Langwang decided to organize a translation group and hoped that, with the joint effort, the Five Major Commentary Textbooks of Monastic Curriculum Studies and other important reference books can be translated into Chinese. Thus, cultivating outstanding Buddhist talents and educating ordinary people in a systematic way can be achieved.  

 

2.Guideline and purpose
 
    Translating sutras and commentaries. The establishment and operation of the translation team can deliver a platform to those talents with different specialties on which, they can fulfill their potential. In this sense, the translation level can be greatly lifted and more sutras and commentaries of Tibetan Buddhism can be preserved and circulated among Chinese across the world. Carry forward the teachings of the Buddha,Call on people with common goal to work together towards the goal of helping more people get enlightenment as soon as possible.
 
3.Books to translate
 
      Books to be translated are mainly those textbooks used in the three major monasteries.

 

 

 

4. Translation plan

 

    Each step must be taken carefully while translating. The translation work will cover the following stages.

 

Stage one. Sort out and translate all the terms in .

Translate all the terms in the Five Major Commentary Textbooks of Monastic Curriculum Studies after they are collected and sorted out.

 

Stage two. Translate the books.

the translation of the books will start after all the terms in the books are translated and checked.

all the translation work is required to go through the following procedures:

 

A. Translators get the books to be translated, after they are finished with the translation, they submit their to the checking team.

B. Each book will be checked by three proofreaders to ensure the completion of the translation process.

C. Manuscript embellishing personnel.

After the second stage, the books will be passed on to the manuscript embellishing personnel to embellish the translation. After that comes word-editing.

D. Trial reading.

In the end, the books translated will be passed on to the trial readers for trial reading which marks the end of the translation.

 

5. Recruitment

 

    This huge task requires large numbers of people. Anyone who is willing to devote themselves to the task is welcome. Please identify your intent and specialty. The details are as follows:

 

A. Typists:Chinese and Tibetan typists.

B. Readers.

C. Manuscript embellishing personnel:Expertise in rhetoric is needed. 

D. Translators:

     Willing to be committed to the translation of sutras and commentaries,          or with experience in translating sutras and commentaries.

E. Other volunteers.
